About Us
Kalashree Dance Academy was established in 1989 under the guidance of Guru Smt. Toral Chaudhari. The primary focus of the academy is Bharatnatyam, however throughout the years we have expanded our cultural horizons and have included a wide variety of styles such as Bollywood, Garba/Raas, Bhangra, Zumba, and Ballroom dancing. These styles can be learned upon request or when specified workshops for those dances are opened up by Guru Toral Chaudhari.
Due to the hardwork and talent of the Guru and her students, the Academy is recognized by many prestegious associations such as PepsiCo., F.I.A., Gujarat Association, India T.V., T.V. Asia, and countless other organizations. The Academy has also been awarded many times for competitions and performances.
The Director
Guru Smt. Toral Chaudhari
Guru Smt. Toral Chaudhari is the director of the Kalashree Dance Academy and was born in Ahmedebad, India. She learned the art of Bharatnatyam from Elakshiben Thakor of Ahmedebad and received her performing arts degree. She completed her advanced training and received a second degree from Shri Madhubhai Patel in Baroda. For the past 32 years, she has been busy training disciples and molding them into fine artists. To this day she has had over 750 students, 178 of whom have completed their Arangetram.
Instructors
Roopali Singh
Roopali Singh started learning Bharatnatyam at Kalashree Dance Academy at the age of 7 and has been under the guidance of Smt. Guru Toral Chaudhari for the past 26 years. She completed her arangetram with her cousin in 2003 at the age of 15. She attended the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign where she took part in, competed with and led multiple dance teams including Ghungroo Dance Company and UIUC Raas. She currently work as a sales engineer and teaches bharatnatyam alongside Guru Smt. Toral Chaudhari. She also teaches bhangra classes upon request. Her genuine love for dance drives her to continue learning and teaching.
